Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Library Technician 1 for the Savitt Medical Library. This position will coordinate library circulation services, supervise and train 5 to 7 student assistants, and provide reference services to patrons of the library. Other duties include, but are not limited to; being the timekeeper for student hours and maintaining schedules for student employees; assessing and collecting fines; updating the circulation database; explaining and applying rules, procedures, and practices to patrons; maintaining a variety of library equipment; responding to reference questions and evaluate patron requests; collecting and reporting reference statistics; creating, editing, and maintaining library research guides; maintaining links to other pages, sites, and downloadable files; providing public service desk schedules; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of increasingly responsible experience working in a library; OR one year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
