Duties:

The University of Iowa, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Division of Performing Arts has an opening for an Administrative Services Coordinator in the Department of Dance.  This position serves as Assistant to the Chair in the Department of Dance. Performs administrative, and academic support in the Department of Dance requiring both a strict attention to detail, high degree of discretion and independent judgment. This position also serves as departmental liaison and primary contact for issues concerning faculty, staff, students, alumni, and public & private officials.

Key Duties Include:

Support the daily operations of the Dance Department office, including coordination of specialized events and activities, monitoring of expenditures, contract or grant requirements, and changes in policies and procedures.
Make decisions and exercise a high level of autonomy while typically performing administrative support/ management responsibilities for Faculty and Chair in the Dance Department, including managing schedules, correspondence, and travel arrangements.
Preparation of Department Calendar, including current and projected (two years), establish faculty and executive meetings on Outlook, monitor and announce important dates and deadlines a week prior.
Initiate purchasing requests for supplies and equipment. Monitor accounts/expenditures; reconcile statements.
Prepare and administer correspondence. Serve as liaison to faculty, staff, students, alumni and public concerning inquiries or complaints requiring interpretation of policies, procedures and programs.

ACAD CLIN PROG MGT SPECIALIST

Duties:

The University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business is seeking an Assistant Director of Global Community Engagement. This position is responsible for coordinating programs in assigned program areas, advising students on academic issues, and participating in the administration of policies, programs, and procedures related to undergraduate students in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business (TCOB). Responsibilities will require some time outside the 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. work day.

  • Provide holistic advising to both prospective and current undergraduate students regarding: academics, registration, admission requirements, professional development, involvement opportunities, study abroad, graduation, and policies and procedures.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources for help with personal issues, tutoring, testing and placement, career advising, and financial aid.
  • Serve as a liaison to an academic department. Coordinate or assist in UPO-developed student service programs (e.g. Student orientation to Tippie College, and major information sessions).
  • Teach a section(s) of the Direct Admit Seminar. The direct admit seminar is designed to facilitate a successful transition to College for first-year students. Topics include Tippie traditions and expectations; skills for academic success; academic opportunities; campus resources; career exploration skills; living and working in a multicultural and global society.
  • Create and coordinate programs (e.g.  International Student Orientation to Tippie and University resources and Domestic/International Peer networking opportunities) designed to orient and facilitate the integration of international students into the Tippie community.
  • Design programming to facilitate the integration of domestic and international students (e.g. Tippie Buddies, Peer programming).
  • Consult about policies and procedures affecting international students in the Tippie College.
