Cook I: The Cook I will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods that may require short preparation time.
  • May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and may operate a  grill station.
  • Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided.
  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.
  • Prepares foods under direct supervision or instruction by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.

Barista I: The Barista I provides exceptional customer service while making hand-crafted, quality beverages. The Barista will take orders and make coffee, tea and other drinks to customer specifications. The individual will also operate cash registers and credit card machines. The Barista fields customer complaints or questions while working to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Greets customers, take orders, mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc. while considering customer specifications.
  • Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items.
  • Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays.
  • Maintains bar/cart area in a neat and sanitary manner.
  • Often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, restrooms and preparation areas.
  • Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register and follows all cash-handling procedures as required.
  • May sell food items.

Food Service Worker: The Food Service Worker may work anywhere on property where food is prepared. This person will assist in setup and serving of food from counters and steamtables. Duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Reads recipes and/or product directions.
  • Estimates food requirements.
  • Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving and storing.
  • Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
  • Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
  • Keeps records and requisition for supplies/equipment as needed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following all Sodexo, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • May taste test products.
  • Sets up stations with entrées, soups, salads, breads, condiments, other food products and utensils.
  • Provides general stocking duties in service area.
  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables (sometimes using a conveyor food belt), and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
  • Brews coffee and tea.
