The restaurant chain is famous for its sandwiches and confectionaries since 1970 and provides family-friendly environments to customers. The chain continues to grow with new locations and the need of new employees. In most cases new hires work during night and weekend shifts, while experience associates work more regular hours.
Schlotzsky’s looks for associates who are devoted and reliable. Entry level personnel do basic tasks including restocking inventory, cleaning bathrooms and restaurant and sanitizing kitchen. Most of the tasks are repeated every day. All employees must be able to work fast and under pressure and this includes managers as well; who assist customers, motivate and lead employees and check inventory and sales.
Positions and Wages
Although the most full time jobs, such as cook and manager, require applicants to be at least 18 years old, individuals who are 16 and over may apply other positions. The restaurant does not hold any other requirements. Some positions are listed below:
Cashier – Individuals who need a job immediately may start working as a cashier. It is the most accessible job within the store. They take orders, handle payments and receipts. In order to explain menu items and promotions, offer specials, help by answering questions and recommend customers, associates must have knowledge about items. Individuals with strong communication skills and career seekers would make great cashiers.
Cook – Cooks are responsible of preparation of cold and hot dishes. Associates use special equipments during work and they are also responsible of their cleanliness. Cooks prepare food in stressful and fast paced environment. Thus applicants must have detail oriented characters and ability to work well in stressful environments. Experience is not one of the hiring requirements but applicants with culinary related experience gain more hiring consideration. Interested individuals can find employment full time or part time and receive 8 to 12 dollars an hour depending on skills and qualifications.
Management – Career seekers may apply team leader positions and with time and great performance they can earn promotions to more upper level positions such as general and assistant manager. All managers hire and train staff, create work schedules, order inventory, handle store crisis, open and close store and try to reach sales goals. Team leaders may work part time but after promotion managers work full time. Team leaders earn 10 to 12 dollars an hour while assistant and general managers earn between 45,000 and 50,000 dollars annually.
