Acute Care Advanced Practitioner
Overview and Qualifications
Role Summary: The Advanced Access Advanced Practitioner (AP) in the ambulatory care setting works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team to provide primary care. Performs health assessments and makes differential medical diagnosis, which includes ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic laboratory tests, including radiology studies, and EKGs. The Advanced Access AP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring adherence to clinical pathways and protocols, ensuring an environment of safe, quality care. The AP demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation. Provides Occupational Medicine and Virtual Care duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Required Education: Completion of nurse practitioner or physician assistant program with appropriate certification exams.
Preferred Education: None
Required License: Have and maintain current Nurse Practitioner license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant license with the North Carolina Medical Board. BLS License
Required Experience: None
Preferred Experience: Two years experience as an Advanced Practitioner; knowledge of automated patient record management systems; knowledge of dictation equipment.
