Study Abroad Advisor: We need you on our team. Join us as a Study Abroad Advisor. The selected candidate will serve as an advisor to students interested in studying abroad as well as coordinates the International Education Fee (IEF)/Foundation Scholarship and Gilman Scholarship processes. The selected candidate will co-manage the “Study Abroad Squad” (work study students). Other duties include: working with the assigned college(s) and University units to coordinate college-specific outreach, marketing, advising and curriculum integration. The Advisor will report to the Director of Study Abroad Programs.
- Holds walk-in advising hours at fixed times during the week.
- Facilitates study abroad application procedures and processes for students.
- Investigates and resolves student issues, such as financial aid, credit transfer, etc.
- Works with the assigned college(s) and academic advisors concerning the academic integration of the study abroad program.
- Manages the application and disbursement process for IEF/Foundation scholarships; works with Financial Aid and the Foundation to ensure the timely disbursement of the awards.
Academic Advisor I: We are seeking to recruit an Academic Advisor I position to conduct individual and group student academic advisement, to assist departments/units with verbal or written academic plans, and to interpret and implement university policies and procedures in the areas of student enrollment and evaluation. We are searching for staff who can find ways to continue to improve upon some of the fastest growing graduation rates in the nation. A successful candidate for this position must be dedicated to encouraging student success with a high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Examples of duties include:
Advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses using advising systems and technologies. Disseminates information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, students, etc.
Maintains students’ files that are updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic exclusion and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students who are part of the Academic Improvement Program.
May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming students.
