Utility Worker

Clean, service and supply locomotives, transport supplies between work and storage sites, and perform a variety of support and clean-up activities in locomotive and car repair areas.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Must comply with all CSX rules and policies for safety and operations, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements
  • Be able to safely perform all job responsibilities
  • May be called upon to perform tasks associated with work assignments such as cleaning, sweeping, forklift operation, handling material and fueling locomotives
  • Clean interior and exterior of locomotives, associated equipment and mechanical parts
  • Supply locomotive with necessary materials
  • Complete routine reports and make entries into log and inventory records
  • Clean empty cars
  • Check fuel or water sight glass/gauge to determine fluid levels on tools, machines or equipment (hydraulic, lubricating, fuel, cooling, etc.) and perform preventive maintenance on a variety of tools, machines and/or equipment
  • May be required to operate locomotives
  • Operate heavy duty equipment, licensed and unlicensed vehicles and work around all types of moving equipment
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Diesel Locomotive Electrician

Maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect and install all electrical wiring and equipment on diesel electric locomotives, passenger trains, motor cars, tractors and trucks.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Wire, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect and install equipment such as: Rheostats, Control Systems, Transformers, Motors & Generators, Welding Machines, Electric Lighting Fixtures, Winding Armatures, Battery Charging Systems, Magnet Coils, Switchboards & Meters, Compensators & Rotors, Electrical Collectors
  • Inside and outside wiring at shops, buildings, and yards and on structures
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble connections to control panels and junction boxes
  • Test circuit connections
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace electrical malfunctions in components including loading charging, transition problems, wheel slip, sander circuits and high and low voltage grounds
  • Perform work activities utilizing voltages up to 1200 and amperages up to 1500
  • Examine parts for wear and/or defects such as brushes contact tips, slip rings, armatures, diodes, bearings and fuses
  • Interpret test instrument indicators
  • Repair speed recorders, air compressors, turbo and fuel pumps and temperature switches
  • Change light bulbs on locomotives and building
  • Interpret information from computer monitors or printouts
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

CSX Internal Audit Internship Program

This opportunity will be a part time (24 hours per week) internship within the Internal Audit Department supporting Sarbanes-Oxley 404 control testing, IT and other audit projects, and internal investigations. This will be a flexible shift, allowing you to work around your class schedule. The assignment start date is flexible, typically beginning between April 2018 and October 2018, and will last through mid-February 2019.

  • Performing audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing/analyzing evidence, and documenting auditee processes and procedures
  • Prepare working papers, conduct interviews, review documents, and compose summary memos
  • Identify, develop, and document issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed
  • Communicate or assist in communicating the results of projects via written reports and oral presentations to management
  • Develop and maintain productive auditee and staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings

Senior Software Engineer

Code, debug, test, and support programs, applications, services, mobile apps, utilities and tools as part of the application development process. Define system scope, objectives, and requirements. Function as a top-level technical expert in development through the application lifecycle. Partner with management to identify and research application problems, search for solutions, and make recommendations. Applicants will be required to engage in ongoing background checks through the duration of this position with continued passing results.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
  • Create system designs to facilitate the inter-operability of large-scale business systems.
  • Research, analyze, and define business solutions of large systems scope and complexity. Prepare detailed specifications for large complex projects and design solutions for complex business problems.
  • Debug and resolve issues with code of significant complexity spanning multiple interfacing applications
  • Document test cases, expected test results, test data requirements, and collaborate with testing teams and business partners to resolve testing problems.
  • Code, debug, test and support utilities, tools, and frameworks to support the application development process.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to team members and monitor the deliverables of the technical team.
  • Serve as technical subject matter expert for one or more areas
  • Support multiple Tier 1 systems that are critical for Transportation operations
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
