This industry comprises nearly 3,600,000 stores across the US and is responsible for about 2.6 trillion in annual GDP of the US. This supports all kinds of employment opportunities like part-time, hourly, full-time, contract basis and more. Jobs & Positions

Retail-Jobs

The National Retail Federation or NRF promotes the concept that “retail means jobs” and wherever there is a retail store opening up, it brings with it a host of employment opportunities for the locals. Some of the good paying jobs in this sector are office manager, operations manager, full-time sales associate, tax professional, sales lead, and sales manager. There are numerous small and part-time jobs too that are ideal for short term employments.

Benefits & Perks

The retail industry is led by many big names that provide the best in terms of employee benefits and compensation. Full-time employees enjoy all basic insurance, coverage from accidents, medical emergencies, dental and vision insurance, and 401 (k) retirement plans. Then there are industry specific benefits such as vacation pay, discounted stay and lodging, discounted products, and free food and drinks.

Assistant Store Manager Job

Job Duties

The main task is to assist the general manager with his or her tasks and keep learning the company policies and rules. At some places they might have an upper hand if the general manager is not actively involved in each and every administration task. It includes managing daily activities, resolving conflicts and keeping a log of them.

Job Qualification

The highest paying jobs in this category demand college degree with a specialization such as Masters in Business Management or similar 2-year degree. However, there are also part-time managerial positions which are ok with a high school degree. Any experience in the same position elsewhere is also a plus, however, is not always essential. Companies will explicitly mention around 3-8 years of experience for the good paying posts.

Salary & Compensation

They are on the lower end of the spectrum of high paying management jobs, but they enjoy many equal benefits and have the potential of transition to higher wages with bonuses over the years. They also have a lot less to deal with compared to the stressful working hours for an area manager or operations manager. The median pay is around $45,000 annually, whereas some companies like Lowe’s and Target pay between $50,000 and $60,000. Those located in Boston are reported to receive a pay 20% more than the national average of $30,000.
